A sneak peek into the soft shoe industry

A sneak peek into the soft shoe industry

July 28, 2022

The global sneaker industry is bigger than ever, and its growth shows no signs of slowing down. More than 20 billion pairs of sneakers are produced every year, that’s more than 3 pairs per person on the planet every year!

And behind this massive demand for footwear is an industry so wasteful it’s literally beyond measure in both the unsustainable processes used to produce the footwear and the unspeakable cruelty inflicted on the animals just for their skin.

Most of these new shoes use virgin plastic, toxic rubber, and petroleum all unnecessarily producing alarming amounts of carbon dioxide into our atmosphere. According to research about 300 million pairs of shoes are thrown out every year and, on average, it takes 30-40 years for a pair to fully decompose in a landfill.

In the past, most consumers would have put little thought if any into exactly how the items they purchased were made, but that is no longer the case and all around the world people are waking up to the problems being created by our uncontrolled consumerism.

In addition to demanding and supporting  ground-breaking innovations in design and manufacturing, the modern consumers expect and demand products to be made responsibly at every level otherwise they are not prepared to part with their hard earned dollars.  They want to look good and feel good, but not at any social or environmental costs. They see their purchases as “impact” purchases.  They want to know that their money is going to protect the environment, the people and the animals.

And products not prepared to take on this agenda will soon be out of business no matter how inexpensive they present themselves.

To ride this new wave No Saints aims to positively impact the planet and inform the consumers that they have very cool and viable leather options that are sustainable and cruelty free. Unlike most brands that are simply making strides to improve their eco-friendliness, sustainability and cruelty free goals are at the very core of the No Saints brand and ethics.

No Saints sneakers are designed to suit all occasions and are easily matched with most fashion. These shoes are smart, fashionable, very comfortable and can be worn year-round no matter how hot or cold it is, and no matter where you live.

They literally go with anything from jeans, shorts, dresses, skirts, joggers, swimmers and sweat pants. Cute and strong, elegant and funky they are a recognisable fashion statement reflecting style, quality and social responsibility. They are excellent companions for traveling because you can throw them in your suitcase and know they’ll pair with any outfit you packed.

No Saints sneakers are so comfortable you won’t even need to break them in.  From day 1 they feel amazing and you don’t need socks!.  Even on days where you’ll be wearing them ALL day, your feet will never sweat or get uncomfortable and that’s because the shoes just breathe really well.

As you continue to wear them over the years, they’ll get more of a lived in worn look which only adds to their already uber cool personality.

The latest climate report just released this year made it very clear for all to understand: If we don’t all seriously start changing the way we do things in every aspect of our lives then by the end of 2040 our fashion make look more like radiation suits and unattractive gumboots to match.. Considering it’s our Earth and our entire existence depends on its fragile mantle being protected by everyone, we all need to get on board and do the needful.

As a brand, No Saints is currently assessing our supply chain and processes and looking at how we can reduce our environmental footprint. From the vegetable tanning to researching how the rubber we use for our soles can be improved, to the transportation of products from factory to warehouse to the consumer.

We’re also looking at opportunities to recycle and reuse worn products to give the products and materials a second life.
